How to fix the problem of "PayPal not available"?

From March 15, we have had a very few customers reporting that they see this error message when checkout: 

"There was an issue with PayPal. Please use a different payment method."

We have found that this issue is affecting only some customers (not all) and is very probably a temporary technical issue from PayPal's end in the Express checkout feature (according to PayPal status issue history

We have also submitted this bug to PayPal. PayPal is working towards resolving it soon, hopefully in 1 week. 

Before PayPal solve this problem, if you have any difficulty in the same situation, you can follow these steps and see whether any can be a workaround: 

  • Remove the items in your cart and add them back again, try split the order into several if you are ordering multiple items
  • Change the internet connection environment (use different providers)
  • Clear the cache of your web browser
  • Use different devices
